The Bal of the Century : An Evening in the Roaring Twenties
Now an unmissable event, the Ball of the Century returns to Versailles for its fourth edition. Winter brings a new side of Versailles to life: for one unforgettable evening, the Château opens its doors and becomes the setting for a celebration inspired by the free-spirited, daring energy of the Roaring Twenties.
This year, Josephine Baker and the sounds of America set the tone for the Bal du Siècle, as the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of its independence. Arriving in Paris in 1925, she became one of the great icons of the Roaring Twenties, setting the capital alight with the rhythm of jazz. A century after her rise to fame, her spirit returns to Versailles, where she also performed in 1973 at the Royal Opera .

Elegant silhouettes, fringed dresses, pearls, feathers, tuxedos… The Bal du Siècle has its own dress code. Here, what you wear is far more than a detail. It is part of the spectacle. You are the spectacle.
Once you step through the doors, the evening unfolds throughout the Château.
From the Gallery of Battles to the King and Queen’s State Apartments, and through the Hall of Mirrors, every room becomes the setting for an experience to be lived.
Music, choreography, performances, encounters and surprises follow one another in an evening designed not simply to be watched, but to be experienced.
In the Hall of Mirrors, the dancing takes centre stage, bringing the magnificent surroundings to life. Then comes one of the evening’s spectacular highlights : the iconic fireworks display, illuminating the night sky and gardens of Versailles.
Dance to the Rhythm of the Roaring Twenties
Whether you are a professional dancer, an enthusiastic amateur or a complete beginner, our dancers will be there to teach you the Charleston, tango, foxtrot, waltz and other iconic dances of the Roaring Twenties, inviting you to become a true part of the celebration.
Entertainment and encounters add to the experience throughout the evening.
And when midnight strikes, the party is far from over. It continues in the Gallery of Battles, with contemporary music carrying the celebrations on until 1.30am.

Men : Outfits inspired by the Roaring Twenties or tuxedo, bow tie, dress shoes. Trainers are not permitted.
Women : Dress inspired by the Roaring Twenties or ball gown/prestige evening dress, dress shoes or dance shoes. Trainers are not permitted.
Masks are not accepted.
There is no changing area on site.
Entry will be refused to anyone not complying with the dress code.
You may be filmed or photographed during this event. Château de Versailles Spectacles considers that by attending, you waive any rights to object to the use of these images for the promotion of The Ball of the Century.
