General Terms of Sales
The present general terms and conditions of sales are agreed between Château de Versailles Spectacles (CVS), with a capital of 737 000 euros, with its head office in Versailles, on the one hand registered in the Registre du Commerce et des Sociétés de Versailles under number 451 290 613 00020, intracommunity VAT number FR74451290613 on the one hand and on the other any natural person or organisation wishing to buy from CVS.
The present general terms and conditions of sale define the contractual relations between CVS and the buyer and the applicable conditions for any purchase of ticket(s) or product(s) made on the CVS www.chateauversailles-spectacles.fr/en/ and Royal Opera www.operaroyal-versailles.fr/en/home/ online stores, both for professional and individual buyers. Purchase of the tickets and products implies unconditional and final acceptance by the buyer of these general terms and conditions of sale.
These general terms and conditions of sales shall prevail over any other general or specific conditions not expressly agreed by CVS. CVS reserves the right to modify its terms and conditions of sale at any time. In such case, the applicable terms and conditions will be those in effect at the date of purchase by the buyer.
These general terms and conditions of sale may be subject to derogatory systems in the event of exceptional situations beyond the control of CVS.
1. Order, payment and home mailing of tickets
All validated orders render the sale final. No modification or refund of purchase is possible : tickets cannot be exchanged or reimbursed, even in case of loss or theft.
At the client’s request, a hardcopy invoice will be sent, showing VAT.
CVS reserves the right to cancel any order from a client with whom there is a dispute concerning the payment of an earlier order.
1.a. Ordering tickets (online sale)
Online sale of our events is subject to availability in the selected category and/or rate.
When you connect, the best available places will be allocated automatically, in the selected category. These seats are blocked for 20 minutes from the moment you select them.
It is possible to buy seats for different events by using the basket.
A buyer wishing to buy from the ticketing system must absolutely:
- fill in the identification form giving all required information,
- fill his/her online basket with the references of the events selected,
- validate the order after having checked it,
- make the payment in the conditions provided (cf. 1.b. Payment of the order).
Confirmation of the order (button “Pay my order”) entails acceptance of the general terms and conditions of sale, acknowledgement of having read and understood them and waiving the right to citing one’s owns terms and conditions or other conditions. Accepting the general conditions and terms of sale is compulsory to validate the order. All data given and the confirmation recorded shall be proof of the purchase. The confirmation serves as valid signature and acceptation of the operations. The vendor shall confirm the recorded order by email.
1.b. Payment of the order
Online purchase of seats can only be made by card or and digital payment services. Cards accepted for online purchase are exclusively Carte Bleue network ones – Visa – American Express – Eurocard-Mastercard – JCB – Diners Club – Union Pay (see 3. Additional information).
The data recorded by CVS are proof of all operations between CVS and its clients. The data recorded by the securitized payment system are proof of the financial operations.
The buyer’s bank account will be immediately debited for the amount payable for the seats. The prices on CVS communication documents are in euro and include tax, including applicable VAT at the date of the order. Any change in VAT rate may be reflected on the price of the products or services. CVS reserves the right to modify its prices at any time, it being understood however that the prices on the site on the day of the order are the only ones applicable to the buyer. The price given does not include costs of order processing, transport and delivery (Please see 1.c. sending tickets to your address).

1.c. Sending tickets to your address
Once you have bought your tickets, if you have selected sending to your address (this method of delivery is only available on the Royal Opera website), the tickets will be sent by mail by ordinary letter / “lettre simple” (and by recorded delivery / “lettre suivie” if you have purchased a CVS card) with a minimum delivery charge of €3 per order to the address given :
- Paris and Paris area= tickets are sent at the latest three days before the date of the event
- Outside Paris and its area= tickets are sent at the latest five days before the date of the event.
- Abroad= tickets are sent at the latest two weeks before the date of the event.
In case of last minute purchase not allowing time for sending the tickets to your address, they will be kept at our ticketing office and can be collected on the day of the performance. To obtain your tickets, please take your confirmation email with you.
When getting his/her ticket, the buyer must check the name, date and time of performance and price. As no complaint can be allowed after the performance. The buyer must check the proper reception of his/her tickets.

1.d. Specific conditions for e-tickets
The e-ticket enables you to print tickets bought online.
To be valid, a e-ticket must be printed on a white A4 sheet of paper or be presented in a legible manner on a smartphone. There is a ticket for each seat purchased.
Tickets have a unique barcode. The validity of tickets is controlled and recorded at the entrance of our performance location with barcode readers. It is impossible to be admitted several times with the same ticket. Reproduction of tickets is forbidden and will bring no benefit. The organiser reserves the right to bar entry to the event when several printings, reproductions, copies or imitation of the corresponding ticket are circulating and that access to the event has already been granted to the holder of a print, reproduction, copy or imitation of the corresponding ticket. The organiser is notably not obliged to verify the identity of the person showing a e-ticket to check if the person is the real buyer of the tickets, nor to verify the validity of the e-ticket, to the extent that an imitation or copy cannot be identified beyond reasonable doubt as such, at entry control for the event. Only the first person to present a ticket will be allowed to attend the event. He or she is deemed to be the legitimate ticket holder. In case of loss, theft or duplication, the buyer is held liable for the use of his/her tickets. CVS will not send duplicates in any circumstance. E-tickets can be downloaded at any time from the https://tickets.chateauversailles-spectacles.fr/en, subject to the creation of an account.
Keep your ticket in a safe place. Exclusively use an official sales channel to purchase your ticket. Never accept a ticket proposed by an unknown person, it could be a copy.
If a e-ticket holder is denied entry at one of the access points for this reason, he/she shall not be entitled to the refund of the price pay (see also 2.a and 2.c).
2. Liability, complaints
2.a. Liability
Château de Versailles Spectacles cannot be held liable:
- in case of non-reception of the tickets because of a problem due to mail services, or resulting from an error concerning information supplied at the time of the order;
- for anomalies taking place during the order or printing of the e-ticket, to the extent that CVS has not caused them intentionally;
- in case of loss or theft of hard copy tickets due to negligence (no duplicate or certificate or reissue of any ticket can take place);
- in case of illicit use of e- tickets;
- in case of cancellation or postponement of the event, for causes beyond the control of CVS (see 2.d. “Cancellation and postponement”);
- for any non-substantial change of content, programme, duration or artistic cast, or an eventual change in the 1st part.
The vendor, in the online sale process, is only held to an obligation of means. Its liability cannot be engaged for damage resulting from the use of the Internet network such as intrusion, virus, service interruption or any other involuntary issues.
2.b. Personal data and GDPR
All the processing of buyer data respects the regulations applicable in matters of personal data and notably regarding personal data and notably the French 6 January 1978 “Informatique et libertés” law as modified and the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation UE 2016/679), or GDPR. Automatic recording systems are considered as proof of the nature, content and date of the order.
Buyers may oppose the disclosure of their information by informing administration at . Pursuant to the applicable law regarding the protection of personal data, users may at any time exercise their right of access, modification or suppression of data concerning them and their rights of limitation and opposition to processing and portability of their personal data.
CVS shall archive orders and invoices on a durable and reliable support constituting a faithful copy pursuant to the disposition of article 1379, modified in 2016 of the French Civil Code. CVS’s digital data registers shall be considered by the parties as proof of communications, orders, payments and operations between the parties.

2.c. Exclusion of the right of withdrawal
Pursuant to article L. 121-20-4 of the French consumer code, the buyer cannot exercise his/her right of withdrawal concerning services of accommodation, transport, restaurants, leisure (shows), taking place at a specific date or periodicity. The tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged and cannot be sold for a price higher than the one on the ticket (law of 27 June 1010). They are valid exclusively for the performance for which they have been issued.
2.d. Cancellation and postponment
If the event must be cancelled after more than half its duration, there will be no ticket refund. In case of cancellation of an event or of interruption before half its duration, the buyer will have the possibility to postpone the ticket for another performance or event, of equivalent price (specific conditions apply for certain schemes, see point at the end of this section).
If the date of the event is modified, the tickets are postponed to the new date planned by the organiser.
All refund request must be made within three months under penalty of foreclosure. This does not include reservation and processing costs or any damages of any kind, upon presentation of the ticket in question. Only the price on the ticket shall be reimbursed, excluding any additional costs (mailing, transport, hotel, parking, etc.…).
In accordance with the Consumer Code, this ticket is non-refundable. Your order is firm and final, and the ticket is neither exchangeable nor refundable.
For CVS events taking place outdoors, special conditions apply :
a) The Musical Fountains Show and The Musical Gardens Show : in the event of cancellation of the event or closure of the Gardens on the same day or during the event, the ticket will be transferred to another session of the current season until the last date of the season. If the last session of the season is cancelled on the same day or during the event, the ticket will be refunded.
b) The Night Fountains Show : if the event is cancelled on the same evening or during the event, the ticket will be transferred to another session of the current season until the last date of the season. If the last session of the season is cancelled on the same evening or during the event, the ticket will be refunded.
c) The Electro Night Fountains Show : if the event is cancelled on the same evening or during the event, the ticket will be refunded.
d) Versailles Electro : if the event is cancelled on the evening of the event or during the event before half its duration, the ticket will be refunded.
It is hereby specified that cancellation of the event due to bad weather can only be decided by the Organiser and/or the public authorities on the day or evening of the event itself, up until the opening of the doors or during the event. Bad weather is taken to mean atmospheric conditions that make it impossible to set up and/or hold the event, or make it necessary to interrupt it, for reasons of the safety of the artists, participants and/or spectators, and/or essential equipment.
Where applicable, the Organiser will inform spectators of the refund arrangements when the decision to cancel is taken.
3. Additional information
Entering the performance venue and holding a ticket renders the internal regulations available on the Internet site https://en.chateauversailles-spectacles.fr/site/internal-regulations/ fully enforceable. They complete the visitors’ rules for the château, the museum and the national domain of Versailles with specific terms and conditions for events.
Reduced rates are available on presentation of a supporting document that may have to be shown to the ticket controllers on request. In case of difference, full amount will have to be paid to have access to the event.
To be valid, hard copy tickets must necessarily have the corresponding detachable coupon.
3.a. Access and ticket control
3.a.i. Seated and placed performances (The Musical Season) The Royal Serenade and The King’s Tour
Generally speaking, access is closed from the beginning of the performance.
- Placement at the numbered seat is only guaranteed until 5 minutes prior to curtain.
- Doors close at the scheduled time of performance and late arrivals will only be allowed in at an adequate moment, without causing any disturbance for the other spectators or the artists, with no guarantee of placement at the seat indicated on the ticket, so as not to disturb the performance, knowing that right of entry to the theatre or performance venue is not guaranteed after the beginning of the performance.
- A spectator’s late arrival cannot give rise to any refund or compensation of any type.
3.a.ii. Other events (The Fountains Shows, The Masked Ball, The Fêtes Galantes, Versailles Electro and other events)
It is up to spectators to obtain information on the times of beginning and end and on the programme of the event.
3.b. Reservation
Booking is possible by telephone at +33 (0)130 837 889, from Monday to Friday 10am-1pm and 2pm-6pm. Persons with accessibility issues must imperatively contact this number before any purchase.
A group rate is proposed for most events. A group is composed of an organised of people buying at the same time:
- 10 seats for the same performance of an event of the musical season,
- or 30 tickets for a performance of The Fountains Show, The Royal Serenade or The King’s Tour.
Card payment is securitized by the CB Paybox system of the company Verifone SERVICES. Verifone has the agreements and certificates from the bank card association (GIE Cartes Bancaires), VISA, MASTERCARD directly and from private issuers and purchases both for remote sales services and for proximity payment (Verifone e-commerce). Verifone e-commerce is certified by PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) by VISA and MASTERCARD. This certification, renewed every year, guarantees a high level of security and integrity to the platform.
3.c. Placement
For placed shows, the theatre or venue is divided in several different categories pursuant to the sole decision of the organiser depending on each type of spectacle. Each category corresponds to a selling price. The information on the ticket exclusively and solely determines the place to which it corresponds. In order to prevent any claim concerning visibility, the pricing takes into account the variables of viewing angles to the stage and to the surtitle screens.
Surtitles in English, proposed on some performances is visible only from certain seats. It is recommended to book by telephone to benefit from them.
3.d. Ticket resale
Show tickets may only be sold by operators authorised by the show producer.
We cannot guarantee you access to shows produced by Château de Versailles Spectacles (organiser of Versailles Electro) on presentation of tickets that have not been purchased from Château de Versailles Spectacles.
Please note that Château de Versailles Spectacles has not authorised Viagogo, Stubhub, TicketSwap or any other operator to market tickets for its shows.
Article 313-6-2 of the French Criminal Code makes it a criminal offence to sell or provide means for the sale of tickets for shows on a regular basis without the authorisation of the show’s producer.
4. Specific terms of sale for products (merchandising, CDs, DVDs, books)
4.a. Price
Our prices are in euro, all French taxes, processing and shipment costs included.
For orders to countries outside the European Union or from the French Overseas Departments and Territories, you may be subject to import obligations and taxes (additional charges and conditions vary depending on the locality), levied at arrival of the parcel at destination.
Any additional custom clearance operation cost will be payable by you and Château de Versailles Spectacles has no control over those costs. You will be considered as an importer, you must therefore take care to respect the laws and rules of the country where you receive the product. In addition, cross-border shipments may be opened and inspected by the customs authority.
4.b. Availability
Our products are available as long as they are visible on the site.
Should an unexpected unavailability after you have made your order occur, we will inform you by email and your order will be automatically cancelled, with no amount debited, otherwise, your will be reimbursed.
4.c. Delivery
Products are delivered at the address given during the order. The 4 working day delivery time given is only indicative, Château de Versailles Spectacles cannot guarantee the proper functioning of the postal services or safeguard the buyer against an unexpected occurrence in the processing of the order. However, Château de Versailles Spectacles will be available to inform you of any eventual consequence on delivery.
Please also note that when you (or a third party designated by you) take physical possession of the products ordered, the risks of product loss or damage are transferred to you.
4.d.Right of withdrawal
Pursuant to existing regulations, the right of withdrawal cannot be exercised for audio and video recordings unsealed by the client.
4.e. Returns
We undertake to refund or to exchange apparently faulty, damaged, or flawed product or products which do not correspond to your order. In order to do this, we ask you to describe the situation in detail to [email protected]” target=”_blank with photographs showing the defects noted, specifying your choice of exchange or refund of the product or products. After processing your request, we will inform you of the return process, if it is validated. The eventual return costs will be refunded to you on presentation of supporting documents (to be sent in the parcel), in case of exchange, the CD/DVD or CDs/DVDs will be sent to you postage free. In any case, you benefit from the legal guarantees against hidden defects, in accordance with legal provisions in force.
5. Force Majeure
CVS shall not be held liable if the non-performance or delay in the performance of any of its obligations as described herein is the result of a case of force majeure, within the meaning of Article 1218 of the French Civil Code.
Applicable law – Language
These general terms and conditions of sale and the resulting transactions between CVS and the buyer are governed by and subject to French law.
These general terms and conditions of sale are drawn up in French.
In the event that they are translated into one or more foreign languages, only the French text shall be deemed authentic in the event of a dispute.
6. Dispustes
All disputes to which the transactions concluded pursuant to these general terms and conditions of sale may give rise, concerning their validity, interpretation, performance, resolution, consequences and consequences, and which could not be resolved amicably between CVS and the purchaser, shall be submitted to the competent courts under the conditions of common law.
The purchaser is hereby informed that he/she may in any event have recourse to conventional mediation, in particular with the consumer mediation body, in the event of a dispute.
In the event of a dispute between the professional and the consumer, they shall endeavour to find an amicable solution.
If no amicable agreement can be reached, the consumer may refer the matter free of charge to the consumer mediator to which the professional belongs, i.e. the Association of European Mediators (AME CONSO), within a period of one year from the date of the written complaint sent to the professional.
Referral to the Consumer Ombudsman must be made :
– either by completing the form provided for this purpose on the AME CONSO website : www.mediationconso-ame.com ;
– by post addressed to AME CONSO, 197 Boulevard Saint-Germain – 75007 PARIS.
7.Pre-contractual information – Buyer acceptance
The purchaser acknowledges having been informed, prior to the immediate purchase or the placing of the order and the conclusion of the contract, in a clear and comprehensible manner, of these general terms and conditions of sale and of all the information listed in article L.221-5 of the French Consumer Code and in particular the following information :
- the essential characteristics of the events, tickets and products ;
- the price of tickets and products as well as ancillary costs (e.g. delivery);
- in the absence of immediate execution of the contract, the date or deadline by which CVS undertakes to supply the tickets or products ordered;
- information relating to the identity of CVS, its postal, telephone and electronic contact details, and its activities, if this is not apparent from the context;
- information relating to legal and contractual guarantees and their implementation procedures;
- the functionalities of the digital content and, where applicable, its interoperability;
- the possibility of recourse to conventional mediation in the event of a dispute.
