America & Versailles
The War of Liberty
For one weekend, the Château de Versailles celebrates the 250th anniversary of the American Independence with a historical reenactment for the whole family.
After a troop review on the parade ground of the Château de Trianon, discover the largest encampment ever recreated in the Trianon gardens, featuring Louis XVI’s royal district, the camp of the American insurgents, and the British bivouac.
Visitors will be free to wander through the military camps and meet 500 knowledgeable and passionate reenactors, wearing uniforms reproduced with the greatest historical accuracy.
Experience a spectacular immersion into the heart of the 18th century, with equestrian and military demonstrations, as well as the discovery of traditional trades. Scottish quadrilles, Boston dances, and period music concerts will also be highlighted, offering the public a true journey through time.
As the climax of these two days, the grand battle will deliver a breathtaking spectacle, where the insurgents and their allies will face off against British troops, recreating the opposing armies at the Battle of Yorktown !
Reenactments, music, and camp life: History comes back to life at the heart of the Château de Versailles.
