Vivaldi : Arsilda, Regina di Ponto
23 and 25 June 2017
Arsilda, Regina Di Ponto is Vivaldi’s fourth opera. First performed in 1716 at Teatro Sant’Angelo in Venice, its author’s ambition was to establish his nascent domination over Venetian opera. Arsilda was a great success and was also performed in Dresden and Kassel and probably in Prague and Krakow.
Václav Luks and the virtuoso musicians of Collegium 1704 revive this brilliant score with excellent soloists and director David Radok, for a flamboyant European tour.
