Filippo Mineccia: Recital

Saturday 9 June 2018 - 6pm
Approximate duration:
1h20 without intermission

In the young generation of counter-tenors, Filippo Mineccia from Italy has established himself as a specialist of Neapolitan and baroque opera repertoires for virtuoso castrati voices. He has decided to pay a vibrant tribute to the splendid music of Niccolò Jommelli (1714-1774).

His operas conquered Naples and Europe between 1750 and 1770 and the works in this programme were created in Turin or Rome (the oratorios) but also in the prestigious German courts of Stuttgart and Ludwigsburg who maintained reputed opera houses. Composing for the greatest voices of his time, Jommelli conquered the heart of the public with melodies whose “soavita” made audiences swoon, and bravura arias magnificently written for the vocal agility of these stars, expressing raging seas and storms… of the heart! Today Filippo Mineccia sings a wide repertoire with the best conductors; discover and admire his engagement and his brilliant timbre.
