Fêtes Galantes 2018 : a fancy dress evening in the Hall of Mirrors

Monday 28 May 2018 - 7.30pm
Approximate duration:
from 7.30pm to midnight

Dressed in a costume as fine as those worn in Versailles during its finest periods, you are invited to discover the refined and artistic atmosphere of the evening entertainments organized by King Louis XIV, an unforgettable and timeless experience.

Would you like to try baroque dancing and learn with the best dancers? What about performing a magnificent dance with them in the Hall of Mirrors? Would you like to go from the intimate music of a baroque drawing room to the religious atmosphere of the Chapelle Royale, to discover baroque billiard or trictrac the ancestor of backgammon after walking through the Salon d’Hercule, where dancers are celebrating the minuet? The fourth edition of the Versailles Fêtes Galantes will delight you in every way! During this exceptional evening, the doors of the most beautiful rooms of the palace will open before you for an evening inspired by the glorious times of the Sun King. You will be guided by specialists in love with this exceptional place to discover or rediscover the private apartments: the King’s, Madame du Barry’s or Louis XV’s six daughters – Mesdames. The evening will end with fireworks to be admired from the windows of the Hall of Mirrors after the grand ball.

The fourth edition's theme of the Versailles Fêtes Galantes will be Venice.

To preserve the magic of the Fêtes Galantes, you must come dressed in a quality baroque style costume and be wearing it when you arrive at the Palace (all guests must find their own costumes).

No access will be granted to anyone not respecting the appropriate dress code.
