VINCENT DUMESTRE - Artists' stories

The genius lute player has decided to revive many European repertoires of the baroque period. A great connoisseur, he mingles their diverse aspects to bring four projects to Versailles this season, recreating Phaéton, one of Lully’s most magnificent operas, staged by Benjamin Lazar. He will magnify Couperin’s Leçons de Ténèbres in the Royal Chapel, where he will also present a surprising oratorio by Draghi, The Earthquake, also staged by Benjamin Lazar. Finally he will be in charge of the Louis XIV Day in Versailles and perform the Symphonies pour les Soupers du Roi by Lalande, which gave the tempo of the daily splendors of the Versailles court.
